Today we made paper stars and set an intention while we made them. Once students completed their star, they placed them in the intention box that I left on display in my classroom.

Step 1: Prepare Your Paper Strips
• Use strips of paper approximately ½ inch wide and 10-12 inches long.
• For a neater finish, use a paper cutter or ruler to keep the strips uniform.
Step 2: Tie the Initial Knot
1. Hold one end of the strip and make a loop.
2. Push the shorter end through the loop to create a knot.
3. Gently tighten the knot to form a small pentagon.
4. Flatten the pentagon by pressing it down, making sure the edges are crisp.
Step 3: Tuck the Short End
• Tuck the short end of the strip into the back of the pentagon to secure it.
Step 4: Begin Folding Around the Pentagon
1. Take the long end of the strip and fold it over one side of the pentagon.
2. Continue folding the strip around the pentagon, following the natural direction.
3. Make sure to keep the edges aligned as you fold, creating a smooth, flat shape.
Step 5: Tuck the End
• When you reach the end of the strip, tuck the remaining piece into the closest fold to secure it.
• If the strip is too long, trim it slightly before tucking.
Step 6: Shape the Star
1. Hold the flat pentagon between your thumb and index finger.
2. Use your fingernail or the edge of a tool to gently press in the center of each side of the pentagon.
3. As you press, the star will puff up, forming a 3D shape.
Step 7: Finishing Touches
• Adjust the shape if needed by gently pinching the points of the star.
• Repeat the process with more strips to create a collection of stars.
